As we reach the end of 2017, it's both a time to reflect on the year gone by and a time to look forward into the year ahead. 2017 has been a fantastic year for us, and 2018 looks to be even more exciting!
LOOKING BACK
2017 saw the return of our production SIGNIFICANCE due to the incredible response the work received in 2016. We re-staged the production at one of our old stomping grounds, the Courthouse Youth Arts theatre and then debut in Melbourne!
We were so thrilled to not only perform for the first time in Melbourne but to also work at such a prestigious venue as Chapel Off Chapel was especially gratifying. SIGNIFICANCE over the last two years has made for such a wonderful comeback for the company, and we couldn't be more proud of both casts, the production team and everybody who helped make SIGNIFICANCE the very significant production it was.
Speaking of returns, after a two-year break Attitude Dance Company once again performed at the Geelong Dance Showcase (formally Splashdance) this year. Some of the SIGNIFICANCE cast performed "Apres Moi" from the show and represented ADC with a beautiful performance in front of a large audience at the Kardinia International College, Katsumata Centre.
2017 saw the debut of our Open Advanced Contemporary classes, we certainly had a lot of fun with everyone who came along and danced with us, we hope you enjoyed yourselves also as we shared our passion for beautiful movement! A highlight for us were the special "genre" classes which always brought in a great crew to smash out some awesome moves.
To everyone who participated in Attitude this last year, we couldn't do the work we do without your continued support, enthusiasm and kindness. Whether you came to see one of our performances, attended a class, performed with us, worked on one of our shows or volunteered your time Front of House, from the bottom of our hearts: THANK YOU!
LOOKING FORWARD
We barely wait to dive into 2018 here at ADC. We have some incredibly exciting projects, performances and surprises for you all to enjoy, we can't wait to get dancing!
First up in early January we have our very first Youth Dance Production: "On The Move". This show is an awesome opportunity for young and up-and-coming dancers to perform in a completely original dance work. The dancers will take part in a full week of dance workshops, culminating in a live, public performance at the Shenton Performing Arts Centre on the 19th and 20th January.
Enrolments to join the cast of On The Move are open until the 14th of January, click here to enrol/participate in this production! Tickets are also available now, head to our tickets page to secure you seat.
Next up in late January we are holding auditions for an exciting new semi-professional dance group in Geelong. This new ensemble will train regularly to develop their technique, hone their improvisational skills and find a unique voice as an ensemble as well as perform in original works. Members of the Ensemble will have a permanent position in the group and new positions will only open as they become available, so now is the best time to audition! Check out our audition page for more info. The Ensemble will premiere an original full-length major work as well as a number of other small pieces throughout the year, so watch this space!
Our Open Contemporary class continues in 2018, but on a new night in a new venue. Classes will be held at the beautiful Infinite Dance Studios in Breakwater, and will be held every Sunday night at 6pm. Head to our classes page for more info. We can't wait to get back into the studio and get moving with you all!
Here's to an exciting and creative 2018!
