The show will feature four wines and four 8-minute dance pieces, with introductions to each wine by Laura Viva from The Hot Chicken Project. These introductions take place between each piece while patrons receive/collect their wine and learn about the next wine. The four dance pieces are named as follows, with wine pairings to match:
Bubbles - Cava from Catalunya
Brosé - Alkoomi Rosé from Western Australia
The Natty - Orange wine from Romania
Dark & Broody - a West Australian Cabernet/Merlot blend
At ADC and THCP, we are passionate about breaking down barriers to enjoying our art forms. Perfect Pairing is an innovative and accessible way to enjoy contemporary dance and wine culture, two art forms that are often perceived as elitist and inaccessible. By pairing wines with dance pieces, we hope to open up the possibility of more engagement and connection to both dance and wine.
Perfect Pairing is supported by Geelong Arts Centre, and its initial development was funded through the art centre’s Creative Engine - Jump Start grant in November 2021. After further development and planning, Stage #2 of Perfect Pairing will culminate in a public premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2023 at Greenside @ Infirmary August 7-19.
To support the development of local artists, we are hosting a trivia night fundraiser on March 27th at The Hot Chicken Project. All proceeds will go towards supporting the performers of Perfect Pairing to perform internationally.
