It’s that time again, the end of another ADC performance season. Dear Diary was an incredible success, and we’re so proud of everyone involved!

Huge thanks of course go to our casts. The adult cast of Dear Diary rehearsed two times a week for almost three months to bring this production to the stage, their dedication, talent and humour were massively appreciated, it was such a joy to see them every Monday and Tuesday night. They performed each show with such focus, skill and passion that brought this show to life.

Our youth cast (as part of the ADC Winter Intensive) worked full-time for a week on their pieces for the show beginning only five days before opening night, what a mammoth effort! We’re so proud of not only their fantastic performances, but also of how they came together like a family as a mix of new faces, regular attendees and those who have been to every single Intensive thus far.

We’d like to thank Adult Ballet Studio Geelong for having our Winter Intensive at their wonderful studios, as well as Impetus Dance Theatre for having our adult cast on Monday and Tuesday nights. ABSG holds adult classes in a range of genres, if you’d like to check them out, head to balletgeelong.com. Thanks as always to Geelong High School for having us at the Shenton Performing Arts Centre.

To our choreographic team, we’ve loved watching your work grow and are so proud to have presented your beautiful and clever pieces in Dear Diary. Each one of our choreographers gave us some really personal work, and helps us display such a great range of movement and themes.

Thanks as always to our Front of House team, led with style by Janette “Mumma J” Shaw, and helped out by Xavier McGettigan. With the Front of House team being the audience’s first experience at every ADC show, Mumma J’s work is greatly appreciated.

Jayson Fry is our technical wizard here at ADC, and he’s worked his magic yet again with Dear Diary. Wedged between his role as Stage Manager for Western Art Theatre’s Seussical the Musical and running auditions as production manager for Williamstown Musical Theatre Company’s A Chorus Line, Jayson still helped to run our Winter Intensive, set up our amazing set (with help from Elyssa, Kim, Callie and the rest of the cast), and made our casts look wonderful with terrific lighting, operating live for every performance up in the bio box.

We’d also like to thank our Dear Diary Director Xavier McGettigan for bringing it all together. We know he’s feeling exceptionally proud of the production after the many hours of admin, planning, organisation and promotional work with the help of Jayson, all amongst a characteristically busy schedule.

A special thanks must of course go out to Caitlin Mathieson (one of the founding members of the ADC Impact Ensemble) for lending her voice to Dear Diary for each piece’s “diary entry”. We appreciate Caity’s passion for ADC and generosity in yet again sharing her beautiful acting talent with us.

A big thank you goes to Kim and Callie, who went absolutely above-and-beyond with writing countless diary entries for our set and hours spent in production week creating the intricate, written designs on the cast’s shirts. Thank you for your effort in bringing all these crucial details together at such a busy time in the rehearsal process!

Last but certainly not least, thanks to Elyssa Mahr for everything she’s done for Dear Diary and ADC. From being one of our Winter Intensive facilitators, an adult cast member, a choreographer for the show, a sounding board, coffee supplier, bad-joke tolerator, helping source and figure out the costumes and constructing the set, this production would not be the same without her.

An extra thank you of course goes to our audience and ADC community, we hope you enjoyed the production and thank you for continuing to support independent, original dance theatre in Geelong. We look forward to welcoming you back to our next performance and upcoming events.
