UPDATE: 18th MARCH, 2020
In the last few weeks we have been keeping a close eye on the continually changing circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 situation. In the last few days, after consulting our cast, crew, venue and composer, we have decided to postpone our production of Fantasy.
This decision was not made lightly, our cast and creatives have worked so hard to bring you fantastic production, so as such we will be bringing you an even more polished production in the coming months. The decision to postpone has been made with the health and safety of our cast, crew, audience and extended community at the forefront of our minds. With today’s announcement regarding indoor events with 100+ attendees, we believe we have made the right decision.
Refunds have already been processed for tickets already purchased, and if you have any questions at all, please get in touch. Our Open Classes are also similarly postponed, but please keep an eye out for announcements regarding how we plan to continue dancing in the current climate.
Thank you so much to our wonderful cast, many of whom have been working for a full year on this production, and all of them have shown immense passion, talent and commitment to this production. Thank you to our creatives, Markus Junnikkala our “The Hero’s Journey” composer, Jonathon Lawrence and Callum Padgett who both helped build and bring to life the world of “The Hero’s Journey”. Sherree Nash from Impetus Dance Theatre, Lisa Hunter from Geelong Lyric Theatre Inc. and Debbie Fraser from GSODA for all your help and generosity with costumes. Huge thanks to Belmont High School, our venue for their support, understanding and communication, we can’t wait to be back there soon! Thanks of course to you, our ADC community for your continued support and enthusiasm for ADC and for dance theatre in general.
Further details will be announced in due time regarding our Open Classes, new performance dates, tickets etc. as we find out more in the coming weeks and months. If you have any questions, please get in touch, we are also around to lend an ear to our ADC community who may be going through a lot in these times.
Thank you all for your patience and understanding in this situation, and we can’t wait to bring you a production that is even bigger and better than the fantastic show we had for you already. Look after one another, remember to be kind, generous and thoughtful of those around you, wash your hands and don’t forget that as a community, we will get through this together.
Much love,
Xavier McGettigan, ADC Director
Jayson Fry, Company Manager
14th MARCH, 2020
Much discussion has been had given our upcoming production of Fantasy, with the recent announcement from our government, in an attempt to halt the spread of COVID-19, that all large-scale gatherings of 500+ attendees are to cease coming into effect on Monday 16th March.
As of right now we will be proceeding with our planned performances of Fantasy on April 3rd and 4th. The staging and presentation of Fantasy is being held in a theater with a seating capacity of less than 300 and including the number of production team members each scheduled performance will be considerably less than the 500-attendee limit.
We will continue to monitor and pay close attention to the information and updates provided by the Australian Government and Health Department regarding any developments around the COVID-19 situation, as well as maintaining communication with venue management.
Whilst we love creating and performing high quality dance theatre, the confidence, health and safety of our patrons, cast members and production team members is of the utmost importance to us. Should any changes or actions be necessary, we will keep you updated via the event on Facebook and our website, as we continue to approach the performance dates.
Please look after each other and those around you during this time of uncertainty with patience and kindness.
